Have a great summer!
On Saturday December 12th at 11am STAR will be hosting the first STAR seminar, a series of events that will bring the media industry's top players to speak to a St Andrews audience. We have two speakers coming to School 2 this week.
The speakers will both be from Guardian Media Group (GMG) Radio, one of the major players in the UK's commercial radio scene.
Ciaran O'Toole is the manager for the Rock Radio brand across the UK. As a young station manager he is committed to taking his brands into the strongest future possible and he has been pioneering the use of new media to compliment the radio stations. He will be talking about the commercial media sector as a whole and how radio fits into the modern media package. He'll also be discussing the future of the whole media industry.
Tom Russell has presented on radio stations in Glasgow for over thirty years and has become one of the most respected names in Scottish radio. He will be describing what presenting on commercial radio entails, what goes on in a modern radio studio, and more generally will describe how he takes his ideas and turns them into quality radio output.
These seminars will be useful to those involved in student radio as well as the wider student media field. The seminar will last one hour and there will be an opportunity for questions.
